【英検1級二次面接対策】ニュース記事でスピーチの特訓！1

英検1級二次面接の試験日が刻一刻と近づいてきます。

私は面接対策の一環として、ニュース記事の意見を英語で発表する訓練を記事として書き収めたいと思います。

お題は・・・宇宙開発 VS 地球保護

お題：CNNの記事（Winners of Prince William’s £1million Earthshot environmental price announced）

CNNのニュース記事を読んでスピーチをする練習をします。

ニュース記事の概要・・・

1. Earthshotの受賞者が発表されたこと
2. 英国のウィリアム王子のスピーチ
3. 宇宙開発 VS 地球保護（今回のお題）

※Earthshot（Prize）とは？

アースショット賞とは、環境問題対策に取り組む団体に対して、英国の王位財団がアースショット賞を贈ることにより、地球保全活動を促進させるために生まれた賞です。

賞は5つの分野に分かれています。

1. Protect And Restore Nature
2. Clean Our Air
3. Revive Our Oceans
4. Build A Waste-Free World
5. Fix Our Climate

各受賞者は100万ポンド（約1500万円）が与えられます。

ニュースの動画またはニュース記事の最後２パラグラフにおいてウィリアム王子が宇宙開発について批判的な意見を述べていました。

The world’s greatest minds should be more focused on trying to repair the planet rather than traveling to space.

今回は地球保護と宇宙開発どちら重要か？という内容で意見を述べてみたいと思います。

Which should we put more weight on Protection on Earth or Space Exploration?

１分間の準備時間、スピーチ時間の測定はしっかり実施。

I believe that we should tackle issues on the planet Earth rather than space exploration. I have several reasons to support my idea.

First, space exploration costs a lot. Millions of or billions of dollars are spent on space exploration. Like ex Amazon founder ジョフベゾス？（Jeff Besoz） now, he is working on space exploration because it was his dream. (1分） But I don’t think it is good idea because we have to do, we have to tackle planet Earth issues first, like most of the people are on the verge of the like food shortages, or land shortages, and climate changes and so on. We have to do something for planet earth rather than space exploration.

Also, what else? I forget what I’m going to talk about. It costs a lot. Right? Space exploration costs a lot. And we have the imminent problems on Earth.（2分） We don’t have to prioritize space exploration. And like the world population is expected to reach about 10 billion by 2050. We have to solve the problems like food shortages, or land shortages, poverty.

So for these reasons, I think space exploration shouldn’t be prioritized and we put more weight on planet earth.（2分48秒）

同じことを繰り返しているだけですね。

しかも、考えて黙っている時間のせいでかなり時間がオーバーしました。

あと理由が1つしかないように思います。

一応、準備時間中には、意見や2つの理由を思いついて流れも決まっていました。

考えていた内容は・・・

• 「地球保護を優先すべきだ」という立場
• 理由①宇宙開発にはお金がかかりすぎる
• 理由②地球の問題は差し迫ったものがある

1つを話しているうちに2つ目を忘れてしまっています。

スピーチを改善してみたいと思います。

改善点のポイント・・・

• スタートを少しおしゃれにする
• 結論→具体例や根拠、説明→結論をしっかり守る

There are a lot of discussions and debates about space exploration and preservation on planet earth. I believe that preservation on Earth should be prioritized rather than space exploration for the following reasons.

First, space exploration need a huge amount of money. Billions of dollars are allocated to space exploration, which comes from our tax. The governments have more urgent problems to solve such as poverty or economic downturn.

Second, we are facing serious environmental issues around the world. It is more important to help people in needy counties. More time and money should be focused on issues on the planet.

For these reasons I mentioned, we shouldn’t spent more money on space exploration and put more weight on our planet.

書けばまとめられることも、話すとなると全然ダメですね。

まだまだ訓練が必要です。

まとめ：まずは地球に集中しようよ！派

ライティングで頻出の問題で、宇宙開発は価値があるか？環境問題に対して我々は十分対応しているか？という別々のお題はありましたが、今回はどちらが価値があるか？と初めて考えた問題でした。

現状、お金持ちの人がどんどん宇宙開発に乗り出していますが、一般人には”雲の上”の話ですね。

お金持ちの人だけが、新しいビジネスチャンスをものにすることができ、なんだか資本主義というか、貧富の差がますます広がっているように感じます。

確かにビジネスマンとして挑戦する姿勢は尊敬すべきですし、自分の稼いだお金で開拓しているので、否定はできません。

また宇宙開発により技術開発を発展させて、人々を助ける可能性もありますね。

しかし、個人的には「まずは地球の問題（特に紛争や貧困）に取り組んでほしい」と思いました。

まずは、地球上の誰もが安全で快適な生活送ってほしいと思います。
